Dining experiences are recommended in Vietnam
(Foods that you must try in Vietnam)
1. Com Bin Dan
The length and breadth of Vietnam, you will find small restaurants with trays of food of many kinds, and a sign that says “cơm bin đanh”. These restaurants, which tend to be at their peak between 11:30 and 12:30 in the morning, there are places where you can eat a dish hearty for a very economical price. In my opinion it is worth to eat at least once in a restaurant of this type, because the food they serve is exactly the kind of food that vietnamese people eat in their homes every day (it is as if a tourist in Spain try dishes such as lentils, stew or fillets Russian).
How do I ask for com bin dan and how much does it cost?
Once you enter the establishment, you can ask for a plate. The worker will put rice in the middle of your plate and ask you what other foods you want to add. At that time you can point out which meals you want me to wear and he or she will serve. Normally, the vietnamese tend to ask for vegetables (cooked or reogadas), meat or fish, and any extras such as dried fruit, mushrooms reogadas, etc, but the decision of what foods to add to your plate is for each individual person. Once you serve, you can sit down to eat (I personally ground to pay once I finish eating).
On the other hand, there is usually a large pot of soup and a ladle, and each diner can be filled with a bowl of soup for himself (and if you want extra soup you can serve more without problem). In addition, next to the soup is also usually find the containers with fish sauce, soy sauce, and spicy (that one can put in a bowl smaller and bring to the table).
The price is calculated more or less to the eye, although it is usually possible to see a sign with the price of an average meal in the outside of the restaurant (which is of the 25,000 dongs (1€) 60,000 (2,5€) in the most expensive). The price especially depends on the area in which it is the restaurant, the type of food (meat, for example tends to cost more than the vegetables), and the amount of food that you ask for (more quantity more, price). If you have questions, you can ask the price before you sit down by using the app of the Google translator.
2. Barbecue chain Korean
One of the best dining experiences that I experienced in Vietnam were the establishments of Korean style barbecue. I am aware of that may sound unlikely, but the reality is that in Vietnam, this type of establishments are the most common.
In this case, this is not street food, but food restaurant with a certain level and price. Usually you will be paid between 250,000 (10€) and 500,000 (20€) per person depending on the mode of food of your choice (can be ordered dishes in loose packs, or buffet). Normally the packs and the buffet include meat (pork and beef) and vegetables, a variety of salads, kim chi, and desserts to choose from, but the drinks are always going to part. The food they bring fresh to the table so that the cook at your own pace in a barbecue in the center of the table. On the barbecue there’s a fume hood, so that in the local there is an atmosphere of fresh air (for anything having to smoke).
Me personally I love to go on a Friday night after a week of hard work to enjoy food to the bbq with a few beers, and it is a real pleasure. This type of restaurants are often found in shopping centres, though there are also locations in the middle of the street. Some of the most famous are Gogi, Summo Bbq, King Bbq, but there are many chains and restaurants of this type. If you want to find one for your area you can search “Korean bbq” on Google maps and read the reviews.
If you ask a buffet often includes hotpot (more info in the next section), even though I I’m usually too full to order it after all the food from the barbecue.
3. Hotpot (lau)
, The lau or hotpot it is a unique culinary experience. The restaurant provides you with a pot with broth and a fire pit in the middle of the table, and will give you the ingredients: meat, vegetables, peacado or seafood depending on the mode you choose. Again, as in the Korean barbecue, you can choose a pack of food or ask for buffet style. When you’ve cooked all the meat, fish and vegetables, it is time to add my tom, or instant noodles, and enjoy the broth.
This meal usually cost between 200,000 dongs (8.2€) and 400,000 dongs (16.5€) per person depending on the setting, the type of food you choose, and the mode (buffet or pack?). The price does not include drinks, which are paid to party. The restaurants of hotpot in the street do not include dessert, but often that is included in the restaurants of hotpot of a certain level.
To find restaurants of hotpot I encourage you to write hotpot 3n Google and read the reviews. I recommend that you ask for the price before you request by using the Google translator.
4. Buffet vegetarian
Em Vietnam eating vegetarian is not something modern or novel, but an essential part of the culture. Vegetarianism is practiced porblos buddhist monks, and often by those who follow the buddhist religion so strict.. in Addition, a large part of the country eat vegetarian food during certain specific days each month (following the lunar calendar) lunar.
For all this it is possible to find vegetarian restaurants in all the cities of the country, and some serve food buffet style at unbeatable prices. For example, near the first school in which I worked in Hanoi had a buffet vegetarian meals varied that cost between 2.5€ 3.5€ (days indicated by the lunar calendar were more expensive porquehabía many more customers).
To find vegetarian for your area, write in Google maps “ăn chay”, “buffet chay” or “nhà hàng chay” and read the reviews, don’t regret it!
