Transport (flights, buses, etc)

After many hours of flight, it is possible that your arrival in Hanoi you will win the tiredness, and you have to simply catch a taxi. But you have to know that there are alternatives, some of them better and safer.

Go to the airport to Hanoi in Taxi

The simplest option and requires less preparation is to catch a taxi upon your arrival at the airport. The last time I was in the international terminal of Hanoi , I was offered a taxi from the airport to the city center by 600,000 VND (equivalent to approximately 24€). If you’re going to catch a taxi, I recommend to make a reservation at the stations within the airport for your safety, and not to one of the gentlemen who approach offering car service with driver. There have been reported cases of scams on the minibuses and taxis pirate who cheat to visitors, and this is not the best way to start your trip to Vietnam.

Go to the airport to Hanoi by car with the app Grab, Be, or Gojek

Between 250.000 VND (10.5€) and 350,000 VND (14.5€)

Grab is the main application of car-sharing in Vietnam, similar to Uber. In addition to Grab, there are other apps such as Be or Gojek, and it is worth having the 3 installed, as though the Grab usually have the best prices, and occasionally pricing may be better with some of the other.

Grab usually charge by the ride from the airport to Hanoi city centre between 250.000 VND (10.5€) and 350,000 VND (14.5€), which is about half the number of the taxi that was offered to me at the airport.

This kind of transport is safe, and has the advantage that the price is closed, so there is no option for the interpretation. Remember to buy a SIM card with Internet and capable of receiving calls and messages to your arrival at the airport, because these applications require to receive an sms.

✅Fixed price

✅ Credit card payment (through the app) or in cash

Supplement to the airport:
the outputs of some airports there are few tolls that these companies charge to the travelers. Normally the drivers are given a role on the part of the airport that details the cost of the toll, and this is usually not more than 1 euros as a maximum (ask for the receipt to the driver to be aware of the exact price).

Tourist bus 86

This tourist bus has air conditioning, WiFi, and costs of 45,000 VND (approximately 1.75€ per person). The bus number is 86, he grabs at the airport (international terminal) and leads you to the center of Hanoi. To arrive at the stop you get out of the terminal, cross the street and go to the left, until you reach the sign

It is the cheapest from the airport, and in my opinion is truly worth it. The downside is that you have to wait (it can take up to 30 minutes to spend) and does not operate at night.

This bus is paid in the interior of an employee of the line, they will be charging you for the tickets to each traveler (I’ve always paid in cash, and although on the Internet are opinionen disparate, I think that you can not pay with card).
